RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND IP MANAGEMENT

Embedded hardware IP, from first prototype to series production.

Lunar Mint researches, develops and prototypes embedded and low-power hardware, and holds the intellectual property behind it: patents, know-how, designs and a network of manufacturing partners.

01 · Why embedded IP

Intelligence is moving into the device.

AI is moving from the data centre to the edge. What decides whether it works there is hardware: low-power compute, sensing, secure device identity, and the ability to manufacture all of it small and reliably.

Wearables and edge devices are becoming the hardware platform for AI, and the IP that makes them small, efficient, secure and manufacturable is scarce. That knowledge takes years to build and cannot be copied by a software team.

Lunar Mint has been building it in Larnaca since 2018, and holds it as intellectual property.

What a partner gets

02 · What we do

From first prototype to licensed product

S1

Early prototypes and proofs of concept

We coordinate, develop and verify early prototypes and proofs of concept, from the first idea to a result that can be measured.

S2

Technical concept validation

We check whether a concept holds up technically before it becomes an expensive project: feasibility, risks and a clear recommendation.

S3

Tests with user groups

We plan and run tests with user groups, including A/B tests of materials, colours, features, firmware and interaction, so that decisions rest on evidence instead of assumptions.

S4

Specification, PCB design and small series

We specify larger orders, do the PCB design and run small-series manufacturing.

S5

Hardware, software and full-stack development

Hardware, firmware, applications and backend from a single source, including protection and exploitation concepts for the results.

S6

Modular design with secure elements

Modular hardware architectures built around secure elements, so that security is part of the design from the first board.

S7

Machine identity platform

Our own platform for provisioning devices. Together with secure elements it enables the onboarding of customer projects.

S8

Patent research

Prior-art and patent searches, to position a development and to understand what can be protected.

S9

Licensing of modules, hardware and software

We license modules, hardware and software to other projects, so that proven building blocks do not have to be developed twice.

03 · Technology

Core technology pillars

P1

Hardware-Anchored Security

Secure-element integration

Dedicated cryptographic encapsulation, built on dual-core secure processing and RISC-V-based, openly auditable secure elements.

  • Zero-knowledge proofs
  • Hardware eFuses and one-time-programmable bootstrapping
  • Tamper-resistant key storage with active anti-tamper shielding

True random number generation and isolated key derivation, physically separated from application logic.

P2

Ultra-Compact Machine Vision

Sensor fusion at the edge

Proprietary lens and sensor architecture engineered for build heights below 8 mm, validated against a benchmark of more than 100 camera and sensor modules.

  • On-device inference: image processing, optical verification and feature recognition in real time, with no cloud back-channel
  • Time-correlated capture across time-of-flight, LiDAR ranging and micro-mechanical vibration sensing

Continuous spatial tamper monitoring from fused, multi-spectral signals.

P3

Deterministic State Machines

Sovereign protocols

Firmware architecture in C99 and embedded Rust, designed around deterministic state machines that leave no undefined system states, with one core engine across heterogeneous Android and embedded runtimes.

  • Asymmetric low-power communication with a proprietary host wake-up
  • Eavesdrop-resistant near-field transmission, independent of standard Bluetooth pairing

Cryptographic attestation of device state, verifiable without a trusted intermediary.

Research topics
Attested sensor data
Cryptographically signed sensor data, so that measurements and recordings can serve as evidence.
Perpetual wearables
Energy harvesting and ultra-low-power design for devices that do not need charging.
Radar and remote sensing
Sensing and threat detection beyond the camera, with minimal power budgets.
Sleep and wake-up
Hardware-level deep sleep and event-driven wake-up for small, always-ready devices.
04 · Design & production

From industrial design to series production

Lunar Mint combines industrial design with embedded engineering, and maintains a network for prototyping, pre-series and series production.

Industrial design

Post-industrial design that pairs high-end electronics with high-quality materials such as titanium and ceramics: CAD, renderings and material research, with design for production from the start.

Rapid prototyping

Fast iteration with additive manufacturing (SLA, SLS), CNC and small-batch PCBs, so that variants can be built and compared before tooling is committed.

Pre-series and series

One network from the first prototype through pre-series builds to series production, with partners we know and work with directly.

Manufacturing network

Direct partners among PCB manufacturers, component suppliers, assemblers and additive manufacturers, from small to large series, with assembly in Europe.

Miniaturised manufacturing

Direct partners for miniaturised manufacturing and assembly, where tolerances and yield decide whether a design is viable.

Testing and qualification

Test jigs, QA automation and testing partners, plus our own laboratory for measurement and validation.
